NOVEMBER WEEKDAY CLASSES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
Children and parents or caregivers come for an hour of nature fun. Dress for outdoor activity. Except in extreme weather conditions, a portion of each class is spent outdoors. Admittance closes 15 minutes after the start of the program.
NO PRE-REGISTRATION OR PRE-PAYMENT REQUIRED.

NATURE BUGS STORYTIME (3–5 years old)
Nature discovery for youngsters, with a parent or caregiver. Meet an animal each week, hear a story and do a craft or nature game.

MOTHER NATURE’S STORYTIME (2–4 years old)
Enjoy crisp fall days at the Center with walks, live animals, stories and crafts.

NOVEMBER EVENING PROGRAM FOR ADULTS AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:

WED, NOV 6, 7PM REFRESHMENTS / 7:30PM PROGRAM – MID-HUDSON REGIONAL SUSTAINABILITY PLAN: WHAT IS THE PLAN AND HOW WILL IT AFFECT WESTCHESTER? In June, Governor Cuomo announced the first round of funding of $30MM for the implementation of regional sustainability plans which have been developed under the governor’s $100MM Cleaner, Greener Communities program, a major statewide initiative to invest in smart growth planning and sustainability. What is “the Plan” for our region and how will Westchester be involved and affected? Thomas Madden, Commissioner of Community Development and Conservation for the Town of Greenburgh and Co-Chair of the Mid-Hudson Regional Planning Consortium presents an overview of our regional Sustainability Plan and discusses projected implementation through the region. Program presented in partnership with the Sierra Club Lower Hudson Group; designed for adults and high school students. FREE and handicapped accessible.

NOVEMBER WEEKEND PROGRAMS
All program fees are per person and include admission to indoor exhibits and Animal Museum. Space is limited; pre-payment and pre-registration are required for some events. Admittance closes 15 minutes after the start of the program.

SAT, NOV 2, 1PM – MEET THE ANIMALS!
Come visit with some of the Nature Center’s live animals. Our naturalist presents an informative program that allows you to get up close and even hands-on! What wild fun will you have today? Members $5, Non-Members $8

SUN, NOV 3, 1PM – WHAT’S THE BUZZ WITH HONEYBEES?
Enter into the busy life of a honeybee hive. See why and how these amazing creatures are critical players in our own lives and in global economy. The afternoon includes a taste test of local honey. Members $5, Non-Members $8

SAT, NOV 9, 1PM – TRAILS, TROLLS, AND TREES
Recognizing the flora and fauna is one thing – but do you know your trolls from your tomtes (a mythical creature)? Listen as a naturalist tells the tales of the fanciful inhabitants of the woods as we explore the GNC’s trails. Members $5, Non-Members $8

SUN, NOV 10, 1:30PM – TURKEY SCAVENGER HUNT
Bring your toddlers to our traditional “turkey token” hunt along a woodland trail. After the hunt, all “gobblers” enjoy snacks and nature crafts. Members $5, Non-members $8. Sponsored in part by California Pizza Kitchen, Gymboree, Happy Family Brand, Jake’s Wayback Burgers, NorthEast Alliance Federal Credit Union, SavATree, Scarsdale Park Mall Stores, ShopRite, WFAS, Whole Foods Market White Plains and Yonkers, Greenburgh Parks & Recreation, Town of Greenburgh, and Westchester County Parks. SUN, NOV 17, 1PM – FALL DISCOVERY WALK
Join Naturalist John Mancuso as he looks for fall happenings in our forest. Search for unique native trees and wildlife along the way. Members $5, Non-Members $8

The Greenburgh Nature Center is a 33-acre woodland preserve with trails, a pond, gardens, a playground, and outdoor animal exhibits, including a birds of prey aviary. Our indoor exhibits include a live animal museum with over 100 specimens, exhibit areas focusing on nature and the environment, a greenhouse with botanical exhibits, and a gift shop. We offer special programs for groups of all ages on a wide range of environmental topics, camps and birthday parties, either here or at your location. We also have a variety of volunteer opportunities for all ages and skill levels.

The mission of the Greenburgh Nature Center is to offer inspiring, hands-on environmental education experiences, to foster an appreciation of nature, and to promote sustainable practices.

The Nature Center is located at 99 Dromore Road, off Central Park Avenue, in Scarsdale, NY. Parking is free, and handicapped parking is available. The Nature Center’s grounds are open daily dawn to dusk throughout the year. The Center’s indoor exhibits are open daily (except CLOSED Fridays and a few holidays including Thanksgiving Day), 9:30AM – 4:30PM on weekdays and 10AM – 4:30PM on weekends.
