Art Camp is a place where young artists engage with imagination, real-life associations, reflection and visual transformation while making sense of material. In stretching, smudging and squeezing, participants will develop knowledge of a variety of artistic techniques. Weekly explorations may include mixed media, clay, sculpture and the exploration of two-dimensional surfaces. Students may engage in wire, wood, canvas, paint, charcoal, oil pastel, foam core, watercolor and more. The teacher to student ratio is approximately 1 to 4 allowing for the development of individualized artistic expression and effective dialogue. There will be some introduction to art history. The camp is organized into changing sessions, where during the out-of-doors break times, children are encouraged to participate in group organized expressive games, dramatic story telling about different artists in our world as well as creating their own games. Students should bring their own snack and drink from home. All snacks must have original ingredient label (printed by the manufacturer). If snack does not have a label, it will be put away and returned to students at the end of class. Please do not bring snacks that contain nuts. The school provides all materials. We ask that students please do not wear flip-flops. Age groups are strictly enforced.
