ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Hailed as one of the classic hard rock bands, Aerosmith was one of those rare groups whose first album clicked with the public. This program will celebrate their music with such songs as “Dream On,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk This Way,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “Love in an Elevator,” “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” “Back in the Saddle,” and many more. There will be clips of live concerts, television performances, and rehearsal footage. The group has survived more than four decades in the business, with a few member changes along the way, but Steven Tyler is still the singer-songwriter, front man. Originally from New Hampshire, Tyler linked with Joe Perry as a writing partner, in much the same tradition as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. They combined with Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford, with others coming in for periods of time. Their style mixed blues, hard rock, pop, heavy metal and R & B to create their own distinct sound. Their lyrics often challenged the status quo, touching upon political and social themes or depicting raw, sexual energy.
