The John Jay Homestead Farm Market will reopen on Saturday, June 14th in its new location on the 62-acre historic site. The move to a field adjacent to the Red Barn was prompted by the need for more space as the market expands to nearly double its original size.

Local and regional farms remain the focus of the market. They include Cabbage Hill Farm of Mount Kisco, JD Farms of Brewster, Mobius Fields of Waccabuc, Mt. Holly Farm of Katonah, Gaia’s Breath Farm of Jordanville and Do-Re-Me Farms of Orange County.

This independent market will offer produce, fruit and flowers, including heirloom varieties, all locally grown, using certified organic, organic, biodynamic and conventional methods. There will be an array of artisanal baked goods, including raw, vegan and gluten-free offerings, cheese, eggs, meats, fresh seafood, prepared foods, fresh roasted coffee and teas, organic juices, local wines from the Hudson Valley, hand-made pasta, as well as hand-crafted local products.

The market will draw from more than 40 vendors each week. Among the returning vendors are Doc Pickle, Flour City Pasta, Healing Home Foods and Honey Locust Farm House. New vendors include Conte’s Quality Seafood, Hudson River Apiaries, Larchmont Charcuterie and Tousey Winery.

Shoppers will enjoy walking among the 19th century farm buildings and are welcome to explore flower, herb and vegetable gardens, a chicken-and-egg co-operative and a 12-hive apiary, along with wooded trails and a pond. They can discover the Carriage Barn Education and Visitor Center, featuring state-of-the-art computerized interactive displays or explore the site’s five Discovery Centers, filled with hands-on activities.

“We have lots of exciting things planned for opening day, including performances by local band 52 Pick Up and Chef Maria Reina will be doing a cooking demo, “said Jennifer Gordon, Market Manager. “This season there will be more cooking demos, book signings and a crafts table. We will continue to feature local talent and partner with a local non-profit each week, as well as offer free children’s craft programs the second Saturday of every month, “said Gordon.

John Jay Homestead Farm Market is located at 400 Jay Street, in Katonah, N.Y. and will run from Saturday, June 14 – Saturday, November 22 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. For more information visit www.johnjayhomestead.org.

John Jay Homestead:

John Jay’s public roles included President of the Continental Congress, second U.S. Secretary for Foreign Affairs, first Chief Justice of the United States, and second Governor of New York State. After a long career of public service, Jay retired to his “Bedford Farm” in 1801 to live the life of a gentleman farmer.  Jay’s descendants continued to live in the house until the 1950’s when the house and farm became a New York State Historic Site.
