Did you know that music learning supports all learning?

Parents, have you ever wondered what you can do to stimulate cognitive development in your baby or toddler? If so, you may want to share the joy of music with your kids – and it seems the sooner you do it the better.

Research has shown that exposure to music during the early years of childhood enhances the learning process by promoting language development, creativity, self-expression, and confidence while also supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Suzanne Bedford Lawson, director of Bedford Arts & Music, offers Music Together®, a research-based music and movement program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents/caregivers. The Music Together philosophy is based on the premise that all children are musical and have the same innate ability to learn music as easily as they learn language. The goal is to nurture your child’s natural enthusiasm for music and movement through singing, dancing, chanting, and playing instruments in an informal setting. In today’s culture, families tend to be music consumers as opposed to music makers, therefore depriving their children the opportunity to learn basic music skills the way they learn everything else: from the modeling of their parents and caregivers. Music Together stresses that parents do not have to be skilled musicians to provide this opportunity, and that enthusiastic participation is more important than musical ability.

Suzanne has been awarded Music Together Certification level 1 status, for outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education.

Join Suzanne for classes this fall in Bedford Hills, South Salem, or Pound Ridge.
