On Saturday, January 11th from 10am-noon at the Armstrong Education Center, join your neighbors for an important workshop on The Wild Suburbia Project and how you can get involved in this backyard field exploration and study. PRLC land steward staff joins Chris Nagy, PhD of Mianus River Gorge in discussing The Wild Suburbia Project- a local initiative which owes its success to the reportings of citizen scientists. Local residents are urged to become participants in this project which captures important information about local wildlife, their movement and interactions. Citizen scientists record sightings of bobcats, coyotes, fishers, foxes and black bears (which do live in Westchester and Fairfield Counties) on the project’s website through an easy interface. Participants can view the latest maps of sightings at www.wildsuburbiaproject.com. Parking roadside or up the drive at the house. Armstrong Education Center is located at 1361 Old Post Rd. (Rt 121) in Pound Ridge. For a full description of upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, workshops and guided hikes, please visit www.prlc.net.
