School’s Out – Art’s In – at The Katonah Museum of Art

Looking for something to do when the kids have no school? Get inspired by the Katonah Museum of Art’s exhibition Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor with fun art activities each day. For children age 3 and up. Children under age 6 participate with an adult; 7 and older, adults must remain at the Museum.

Tuesday, November 11 — Family Crest Banner: Design a family crest in the style of Japanese kamon and use it to decorate a banner like the ones used by ancient Samurai

Friday, November 28 — Holiday Cards with a Twist: Create unique holiday cards using Japanese batik techniques on paper.

Friday, December 26 — Origami Kimono dolls: Use special paper and the art of origami to create miniature kimono dolls.

Tuesday, December 30 — Samurai Masks: Construct and decorate fierce samurai masks with cardboard and colorful papers.

Wednesday, December 31 — Colorful Japanese Hanging Art: Using beads, yarn and papers, create a fun piece of art to hang anywhere.

COST: Participating children: $5 members, $8 non-members. Adults: regular museum admission.
