Harvest Festival at John Jay Homestead

HARVEST FESTIVAL AT JOHN JAY HOMESTEAD On Saturday, October 25,
as part of Cultural Katonah’s Fall is For Families program, John Jay Homestead State Historic Site, along with Westmoreland Sanctuary, will host a Harvest Festival. The program at John Jay Homestead will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm; admission for these activities is free.

This family-friendly program will include cider-pressing, making a traditional God’s eye craft from yarn and twigs, and pumpkin decorating. Pumpkins may be purchased during the Harvest Festival from the John Jay Homestead Farm Market’s Pumpkin Patch. Following festivitiesat John Jay Homestead, participants may bring their God’s eye to Westmoreland Sanctuary for it to be hung in their Enchanted Forest.

Cultural Katonah is an alliance of Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, John Jay Homestead State Historic Site, and Katonah Museum of Art, whose mission is to promote heritage and cultural tourism in Katonah, New York.

John Jay Homestead’s Farm Market, where locally-produced food and craft products can be purchased, will continue every Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm through November 22. The market also features live music, workshops, demonstrations, and representatives from community organizations.

John Jay Homestead State Historic Site is located at 400 Route 22, Katonah, N.Y. The historic house is closed in 2014 for renovation, but its Carriage Barn Education and Visitor Center and four Discovery Centers are open daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The gardens and grounds are open until sunset. The site is one of six historic sites and 15 parks administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation – Taconic Region.
