Enter The Leatherman’s Loop Lottery – A Unique 10k Trail Run – Ward Pound Ridge Reservation

The 28th Running of the Leatherman’s Loop will be on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, NY.

The Leatherman’s Loop is is a unique 10k trail run featuring river crossings, a quarry climb, beautiful pine forests, swamp land, and the Legend of the Leatherman. Runners are chosen via Lottery.

The Lottery entry period is from Friday, January 10th, 2014 – Monday, January 13th, 2014.

Loop Lottery drawing will be on Friday, January 17th, 2014 and email notifications will go out then or just afterwards.

Runners can enter the lottery as part of a group. Each person from the group must register (or have someone register them) in the lottery. Runners can add their group name during lottery registration.

The Loop was founded in 1987 and has been run every year since then. We believe it is the largest trail race east of the Mississippi River in the United States and possibly the fourth largest in the United States* (depending on the year), with over 1,100 finishers in 2011, nearly 1,200 finishers in 2012, and over 1,200 finishers in 2013. There have been over 17,000 finishers of the Leatherman’s Loop in 27 years. Over 8,900 different runners are represented as finishers. The estimate for the past few years has been between 50-60% of runners in a given year returning to run a second loop or higher. On the flip side, each year sees 40-50% of the field as brand new runners.

Volunteers are really what make the Loop run. Thank you to everyone who donates their time and expertise to putting on the Loop and making it successful every year.

If you are interested in volunteering, get in touch early since we have most of the assignments filled by early April each year. If you come here after then, get in touch anyway — we sometimes have folks with last minute conflicts and could use some alternates just in case!
